Welsh Language Policy
Datganiad Polisi
Rydym yn ymfalchïo yn ein hetifeddiaeth Gymreig ac yn cydnabod statws swyddogol yr iaith Gymraeg yng Nghymru ac na ddylid ei thrin yn llai ffafriol na'r Saesneg. Dylai pobl yng Nghymru allu byw eu bywydau drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg os ydynt yn dewis gwneud hynny.
Rydym yn sefydliad sy'n cefnogi ac yn annog hygyrchedd i'n rhaglenni a'n gwasanaethau ac yn anelu at ddarparu gwasanaeth cyson i'n cwsmeriaid Cymraeg eu hiaith, lle bo hynny'n bosibl, yn eu dewis iaith.
Rydym yn croesawu gohebiaeth yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg a byddwn yn ymateb yn Gymraeg i unrhyw ohebiaeth a dderbynnir yn Gymraeg, er y gallai hyn arwain at oedi. I'r perwyl hwn, rydym yn gweithio gyda Llywodraeth Cymru dan faner “Cymraeg Byd Busnes" a chyfieithwyr (sydd i gyd yn aelodau o Gymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru) i hwyluso cyfathrebu dwyieithog a darparu lefel gynyddol o wasanaethau yn y ddwy iaith.
Rydym yn gweld y polisi hwn fel rhan o ymrwymiad blaengar sy'n edrych i'r dyfodol i hyrwyddo Cymru ddwyieithog.
Mae ein polisi'n ceisio:
- Cynnig gwasanaeth cyfartal i siaradwyr Cymraeg a Saesneg lle bo modd
- deall a chydnabod natur ddwyieithog Cymru
- rhoi mynediad ehangach i'n gweithgareddau
- codi ein proffil Cymreig a chydnabod perchnogaeth siaradwyr Cymraeg a'r di-Gymraeg fel ei gilydd
- atgyfnerthu ein hapêl yng Nghymru a thu hwnt
- atgyfnerthu ein gallu i fodloni gofynion cyllidwyr a phartneriaid eraill
- sicrhau y cydymffurfir â'r manylebau ieithyddol a diwylliannol mewn deddfwriaeth a chanllawiau arfer gorau fel y'u cymeradwywyd gan Gomisiynydd y Gymraeg a Chomisiynydd Cenedlaethau'r dyfodol.
Policy Statement
We are proud of our Welsh Heritage and recognise the Welsh language’s official status in Wales and that it should be treated no less favourably than the English language. People in Wales should be able to live their lives through the medium of Welsh if they choose to.
We are an organisation that supports and encourages accessibility to our programmes and services and aim to provide a consistent service to our Welsh-speaking customers, where possible in language of their choice.
We welcome correspondence in both English and Welsh and will respond in Welsh to any correspondence we received in Welsh, though this could lead to a delay. To this end we are working with Welsh Government in the guise of “Welsh for Business” and translators (all of whom are members of the Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters) to enable bilingual communication and to provide an increasing level of services in both languages.
We see this policy as forming part of a progressive and forward-looking commitment to promoting a bilingual Wales.
Our policy seeks to:
- Offer, where possible, a service of equal standing to Welsh and English speakers
- understand and acknowledge the bilingual nature of Wales
- give a wider access to our activities
- raise our Welsh profile and recognise ownership by Welsh speakers and non-Welsh speakers alike
- strengthen our appeal both within and outside Wales
- strengthen our ability to meet the requirements of funders and other partners
- ensure conformity to the linguistic and cultural specifications in legislation and best practice guidance as approved by the Welsh Language Commissioner and the Future generations Commissioner.
